Prince Edward Island Updates Atlantic Immigration Program: New Employers Designated

Prince Edward Island Updates Atlantic Immigration Program

On May 15, 2025, Prince Edward Island (PEI) announced significant updates to its Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), including the addition of 20 new employers to the list of designated organizations eligible to hire foreign workers under this pathway. This move aims to address labor shortages in key sectors and provide more opportunities for skilled workers seeking permanent residency in Canada.

🏢 New Employers Added to PEI’s AIP Designated List

The recent update brings the total number of designated employers in PEI to 364. Among the 20 new additions, several operate within the province’s high-demand sectors, such as healthcare, construction, and manufacturing. These sectors have been prioritized due to their critical role in the local economy and the ongoing need for skilled labor.

Notable new employers include:

  • 100367 PEI Inc. (Operating as The Pilot House)
  • 100542 PEI Inc. (Operating as FastSigns)
  • 9892788 Canada Inc. (Operating as Stay Golden Customs)
  • Maritime Industrial Services 2022 Inc.
  • Tethys Aquaculture Canada, Inc.

These employers are now eligible to hire foreign nationals under the AIP, provided they meet the program’s requirements.

❌ Employers Removed from the Designated List

As part of the update, 14 employers have been removed from the designated list. This change reflects the province’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the AIP aligns with current labor market needs. The removed employers include:

  • Island Abbey Food Science Ltd.
  • Pivot Drive Inc.
  • Silver Fox Entertainment Complex
  • Taco Boyz Inc.
  • Whisperwood Villa Inc.

Individuals seeking employment with these organizations under the AIP will need to explore other immigration pathways.

🔑 Eligibility Criteria for the Atlantic Immigration Program

To qualify for the AIP, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Job Offer: Obtain a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a designated employer in PEI.
  • Endorsement: The job offer must be endorsed by the PEI Office of Immigration.
  • Education: Possess at least a one-year post-secondary credential for NOC TEER 0 or 1 occupations, or a high school diploma for NOC TEER 2, 3, or 4 occupations.
  • Language Proficiency: Achieve a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 5 for TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations, or CLB level 4 for TEER 4 occupations.
  • Work Experience: Have at least one year of work experience, or a two-year post-secondary credential obtained while studying in an Atlantic province.
  • Settlement Funds: Demonstrate sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members upon arrival in Canada.

It’s important to note that as of January 24, 2025, PEI is prioritizing applications for workers in the healthcare, construction, and manufacturing sectors due to a reduction in federal immigration allocations and high demand in these fields.
